The investment process will play the main role in the economic development of our region. There are some investment projects dealing with the leading enterprises. The successful realization the "Flax" programme will allow to direct our farmers towards growing the flax and to reorganize the oldest enterprise of the region "Kulotinskaya Manufactura". The joint-stock companies "Furniture plant" and "Agrocabel" are the mechanical engineering and metal-working enterprises. The joint-stock companies "Okulovkales", "Okulovskii Bumazhnic", "Toporkovskii woodworking plant" deal in timber logging and wood-processing. The joint-stock company "Uglovski lime plant" deals in building materials. Our region is the geological zone with diamond, oil, gas deposits which are precised now. The region is rich in lime, carbonate rock. There are many mineral springs in our region. The nature gives people unique mineral water "Seven Streams". Our region has the land and forest resource. Eighty picturesque lakes abound in fish and one may come across trout glayling in them. The forest have more than 100 species of beasts: wolf, bear, hare, fox and elk.
The forms of property have been also changed in the agricultural branch of the economy. The are collective farms, state-farms and other forms of farming. The problems in agriculture demand the complex decision: from planting seeds, growing, harvesting to producing products which are on sale at the market.
The realization of the programmes "Housing", "My House" became the main task of the region. The volume of individual building has growth in our days. In 1998 the first time our inhabitants have got the natural gas in their flats. More and more people currently use mobile telephone system service. Health Service, Trading are being developed in modern Okulovka. Our region is wonderful. It seems to include the present and the past.
