"Wonderland" is the name given the Okulovka region by Vitali Bianki, the famous writer. It is situated to the east of Novgorod area on the beautiful shoulders of the Valdai hill. Okulovka, the administrative center, is 150 km away from Novgorod. A lot of trains pass Okulovka on the railway to Moscow and St. Petersburg and Moscow-Petersburg highway is 50 km from the town. Automobile network connects the center of our region with all settlements and villages.
The history of the settlement came back to the old days. Okulovka was first mentioned in the manuscript of the Derevskaya part near 1495. So the main settlement of the region is over. The archeological monuments prove that the history of people's appearance in region has begun many years before our era. Okulovka had a status of town since 1965 and it is one of the youngest towns of Novgorod area.
